Caitlin Clark Is Already Calling Out The WNBA's Officiating

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever opened the 2026 WNBA season in disappointing fashion on Saturday.

The Fever fell to the Dallas Wings, 107-104, in a high-scoring affair to open the 2026 WNBA regular season. Clark had an up-and-down game. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft had 20 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds, though she shot just 7 of 18 from the floor, including 2 for 9 from the 3-point line.

Clark was particularly frustrated by the officiating. The Indiana Fever star was quick to call out the league's refs following the game.

Following the game, Clark made sure to call out the WNBA's officials, suggesting that there were plenty of foul calls that could have been made.

The Indiana Fever star felt that she had a bad whistle.

"I think especially if they're going to call it the way they're going to call it this year, I think I honestly could have probably got a couple more calls on a few of them, but that's okay," Clark said to reporters after the game.

Clark has had issues with referees before.

The Indiana Fever star was fined in 2025

During the 2025 WNBA Playoffs, Clark, while injured, took to social media to complain about the WNBA's refs. She ended up getting fined for it.

"Got fined $200 for this lol," she wrote on X.

"BENCH MOB WILL BE EVEN MORE ROWDY TOMORROW LETS GOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Clark has previously been seen ripping the refs during games, too.

"That's just rude. Grow up," she said during a game last season. "Come here, come here. Unbelievable."

Clark has clearly been unhappy with how she's been officiated at times. It's early, but it seems like the same will be true for the 2026 WNBA season.
