Jaguars Set Travis Hunter's Official Positions For 2026 Season

The Jacksonville Jaguars said when they drafted Travis Hunter that the plan was clear: he would play both offense and defense.

Hunter, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, did play both offense and defense in 2025. He looked better on defense than offense, though. Hunter caught 28 passes for 298 yards and a touchdown in 2025. On defense, he was a standout cornerback for much of the year.

Some have argued that Hunter should just play defense full-time, while appearing on offense on rare occasions. However, it doesn't sound like that is the plan for the 2026 season.

Jaguars head coach Liam Coen announced on Wednesday afternoon that the plan is set for Hunter in 2026.

Hunter will return at wide receiver and cornerback.

"Just as we drafted him to do," he said.

NFL fans react to Jacksonville's plan for Hunter

NFL fans aren't as confident.

"They are going to get this guy killed. When he is playing CB they will go deep on him over and over again then he will get clobbered when playing WR. The guy only weighs 180 pounds," one wrote.

"I don't believe you," one shared.

"It's risky," one added.

Hunter, for what it's worth, wants to do this. He's played both ways at every stop of his career. He doesn't want that to change in Jacksonville.

For now, he appears to be getting what he wants.
