Is Paige Bueckers Better Than Caitlin Clark? WNBA Fans Weigh In
The 2026 WNBA season doesn't officially start until May 8, and yet, fans are having a heated debate online about Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark.
On Tuesday, the WNBA officially released its annual GM survey. All 15 general managers were asked to share their predictions for league MVP, who is most likely to have a breakout year and a few other hot topics. The only rule was that GMs were not allowed to vote for their own personnel.
When asked which player they'd sign to start a franchise, 33% of WNBA general managers picked Bueckers. Clearly, that decision didn't sit well with a good portion of basketball fans.
"I will never understand how Paige (who's older than Caitlin Clark) had a significantly worse rookie season than Caitlin had & somehow immediately leapfrogged her in projected outcome because she played offseason 3x3," one fan said.
"Paige and the Wings didn't even make the playoffs last season," a second fan wrote on X. "UConn Privilege is so real.
"I honestly think these GMs think, 'How can we make more people talk about the WNBA?" and then make their stupid votes.' And it works," a third fan said.
"Paige over Caitlin & A'ja is a fireable offense. League is a joke," another fan declared.
Looking at the numbers.
Bueckers averaged 19.2 points and 5.4 assists per game for the Dallas Wings last season, earning Rookie of the Year and All-Star honors in the process. Her team, however, owned a 10-34 record.
Clark, on the other hand, averaged 19.2 points and 8.4 assists per game during her rookie year with the Indiana Fever. Although the team reached the first round of the playoffs, they failed to win a game in their opening-round series with the Connecticut Sun.
Unfortunately, Clark missed most of the 2025 season due to injury. She reminded everyone that she's elite during this year's FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournament. She was named MVP after averaging 11.6 points and 6.4 assists per game.
So who do you have: Caitlin or Paige?
