Stefon Diggs' Finance Team Claims His Former Chef Was 'Overpaid'

As free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs looks for a new team, the only visits he's been making lately have been to the Norfolk County District Court for a criminal assault case. As witnesses take the stand, some of the testimony has been rather eye-opening.

Diggs is alleged to have assaulted his now-former chef after being confronted over missed payments. The alleged assault took place in December and the trial is finally underway.

During testimony on Tuesday, Melissa Goddard - an accountant who helps manage Diggs' expenses - took the stand and testified that the Pro Bowl wide receiver was likely paying more to defendant Jamila Adams that he was supposed to, not less.

Goddard explained that on December 1 she received an invoice for three weeks of service from Adams - two of which had already been paid for. She said she audited Diggs' payments and found that Adams had been paid an extra $2,500 more than she was supposed to receive, and potentially more. Goddard tried to speak to Adams about the issue but never got a response from her.

Day 2 of the trial saw a slew of other individuals called to the stand to testify about events on December 2, 2025. According to TMZ, between Diggs' assistant, massage therapist, wellness nurse, hair stylist and others, all of them stated that they did not see anything out of the ordinary the day that the alleged assault took place.

Even people who had been with Adams following the alleged attack testified under oath that she showed no signs of bruising or marks on her face and that her mood seemed fine.

Diggs played the 2025 season for the New England Patriots, leading the team in receptions and receiving yards in the regular season and then posting 14 receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown during their Super Bowl run.

All the while, the assault case had been hanging over Diggs' head, but the NFL chose not to punish him prematurely.

Depending on how this trial plays out, NFL teams will probably take a wait-and-see approach to signing him. Despite the seriousness of the trial, Diggs has gone over 1,000 yards in seven of the last eight seasons.
