Seahawks expected to sign edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr. to 1-year deal
May 5 (UPI) -- The Seattle Seahawks are expected to sign former Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr. to a one-year deal, sources told UPI on Tuesday.
Fowler's pact with the Seahawks is expected to be worth up to $5 million. The 31-year-old totaled three sacks over 17 appearances last season for the Cowboys.
He logged 58.5 sacks through his first 10 seasons.
Fowler entered the league as the No. 3 overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2015 NFL Draft. He also played for the Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons and Washington Commanders. Fowler logged a career-high 11.5 sacks in 2019. He totaled 10.5 sacks in 2024 for the Commanders.
He will join a Seahawks edge rusher group that includes DeMarcus Lawrence, Uchenna Nwosu and Derick Hall. The Seahawks allowed the fewest points and sixth-fewest yards last season. Their 47 sacks tied for seventh-most in the NFL.
The reigning Super Bowl champions held rookie minicamp Friday and Saturday. They will hold their first segment of organized team activities May 26. Seahawks mandatory minicamp will be June 9 to 11.
