Timberwolves Receive More Bad News as Nuggets Chase 3-1 Comeback

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been ravaged by injury in their first-round NBA playoffs series against the Denver Nuggets.

They lost Donte DiVincenzo to a season-ending Achilles injury in Game 4. Anthony Edwards went down in that game as well and is now expected to miss multiple weeks with a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee.

Despite the unfortunate turn of events, Minnesota is still in the driver's seat in this series. They are up 3-2 heading into Game 6 on Thursday night. The Timberwolves will host the Nuggets at Target Center with the opportunity to close out the series at home.

Unfortunately for the Timberwolves, they received more bad news ahead of tipoff. Ayo Dosunmu has been ruled out with a calf injury and will not play in Game 6, per Shams Charania of ESPN.

Dosunmu, a mid-season trade acquisition for the Wolves, is dealing with a calf injury and was initially listed as questionable to play in Game 6. He was a game-time decision, but the 6-foot-4 guard was unable to shake off the injury ahead of Thursday's contest.

This is a devastating loss for Minnesota. Dosunmu has stepped up in a big way since Edwards and DiVincenzo went down. The 26-year-old went off for 43 points in Game 4 to lead Minnesota to a 112-96 victory.

Dosunmu's injury comes on top of the Wolves also losing Kyle Anderson for Game 6. The veteran forward was ruled out earlier in the day due to an illness.

The shorthanded Timberwolves still hold the advantage in this series. However, the Nuggets are not giving up without a fight. They won Game 1 at home to open the series, but suffered three straight losses in Games 2 through 4 to go down 3-1.

Denver saved its season on Monday with a 125-113 win in Game 5 at Ball Arena. Nikola Jokic and Co. will be looking to secure another win on Thursday to force a winner-take-all Game 7.
