UNC Dealt Unfortunate Transfer Portal News on Maxim Logue
Florida Atlantic forward Maxim Logue is no longer expected to transfer to North Carolina for the 2026-27 college basketball season, sources confirmed in a statement to Inside Carolina.
Logue, who announced his commitment to Michael Malone’s UNC program earlier this month, reportedly hit a snag in his university admissions process and was deemed ineligible to play this coming season.
Logue is a 6-foot-9 forward out of Lyon, France. Before committing to join the Tar Heels, he spent his first two collegiate seasons with Oregon State and Florida Atlantic.
Through 28 games for FAU last season, Logue averaged 4.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. Though those are modest numbers, he has some serious upside potential.
"I'm going to say this not flippantly - Maxim is as physically gifted as almost anybody I've been around," FAU coach John Jakus said last year. "Obviously based on my time at Baylor and Gonzaga, I've been around some pretty physically gifted guys.
"There's some language barrier, there's three injuries this year, there's some growing pains, but at the tail end, there's going to come a moment when somebody gets him where he fully knows English, fully has made the adjustment from France to America, and takes off. The year he gets healthy and all those things fall into place is probably going to be a special thing."
Logue was the first of three front-court transfer additions for North Carolina. Earlier this week, the Tar Heels added two 7-foot transfers: Cade Bennerman from Northwestern and Sayon Keita from FC Barcelona. Each of these transfer additions helps fill the void left by Second Team All-ACC center Henri Veesaar, who declared for the 2026 NBA Draft last Friday.
