Is Shedeur Sanders in Trouble After New NFL Mock Draft?
Shedeur Sanders made the Pro Bowl last year.
Also, Sanders might not even be his team’s backup once the season starts in September.
The Cleveland Browns don’t know what they’re doing at quarterback. One day, it looks like Sanders, who ended the season as a starter, will get another chance with better weapons around him to succeed.
The next, Deshaun Watson is the favorite to be the starting QB.
What about Dillon Gabriel, who was drafted before Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft?
How about Taylen Green, whom the Browns just drafted and are outwardly excited about?
Oh, and to make matters even more confusing for Sanders and Browns fans, the upcoming 2027 NFL Draft might be one of the richest in terms of QB prospects we’ve ever seen.

And in a new mock draft by ESPN, the Browns, who collect QBs like trading cards, are likely to once again go searching for a franchise signal-caller if they don’t improve significantly in the upcoming campaign.
“Every year a QB ascends from the pack and shoots up the draft. Carr could be that guy in 2027 after an encouraging first season as a starter,” wrote ESPN’s Jordan Reid. “… The sample is small (12 starts), but expanding on his 2025 season would put him in position to be taken by a team such as the Browns, who will likely be willing to take a swing at a QB early despite selecting three in the past two drafts.”
While most NFL teams deploy their quarterbacks in a shotgun formation, the Browns have taken it to a new level.
They’re using a shotgun approach to finding a franchise QB.
And if Sanders, Watson, Gabriel, and Green don’t show enough to lock down that spot in 2026, they might add a new Carr to the ranks as well next offseason.
