Mauricio Pochettino Hits Out at Chelsea Owners Over Broken Promises

With the unusual situation unfolding at Chelsea FC, the club once again finds itself without a head coach, for the fourth time in three months. Something completely unusual for a club of the Blues' magnitude and history.

In a new episode of The Overlap, Mauricio Pochettino explained that, during his time in charge of Chelsea FC, the new owners showed behaviors that could now be criticized, given the club's current struggles.

The current head coach of the USMNT spent nearly a year in charge of Chelsea FC, experiencing several ups and downs.

Mauricio Pochettino Hits Out at Chelsea Owners Over Broken Promises

When the Argentine manager took over as head coach of the London club, a change of ownership was underway, drawing attention from across the football world.

However, Mauricio Pochettino accepted the role at Chelsea FC without knowing that those same owners would later break a promise, one that ultimately led to the former Tottenham manager's departure.

"Chelsea was all about winning. You don't join that club with the idea of just finishing high in the table-it's all about winning. When we arrived, our vision and approach were to build something solid for the long term, but not as quickly as people think it happens."

According to Mauricio Pochettino, the main issue is with the ownership. The point at which they broke their promise was their approach to transfers.

The owners frequently signed five or even ten players at a time without consulting him, undermining his role and vision for the team.

That was the turning point that wore down the relationship, because although the owners told him he could work freely, they didn't involve him in recruitment or in assessing how those players would fit into his project at Chelsea FC.

In that case, the current head coach of the USMNT explained that when both sides are not aligned and do not share the same vision, the best solution is to part ways and give the club the chance to do what it wants.
