Duke, UConn Set for College Basketball Rematch: Report
The Duke Blue Devils and UConn Huskies delivered an iconic college basketball matchup in the Elite Eight of the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
Dan Hurley’s UConn squad overcame a 19-point deficit to notch a 73-72 win over the No. 1 seed Blue Devils. The game was capped off by a stunning logo 3-pointer from freshman guard Braylon Mullins, who ended up with the ball after an errant pass from Duke’s Cayden Boozer.
“It just felt like we were going to be able to hang in there in the second half,” Hurley said after the game. “The locker room wasn’t quiet, either. The locker room was a little bit pissed off. The locker was a little bit, we ain’t doing this. They’re great. Duke’s a great program. They’re a great team, but we’re greater. So let’s find a way.”
This win saw UConn advance to the Final Four, where they took down the Illinois Fighting Illini before ultimately losing to the Michigan Wolverines in the national championship game.
Duke and UConn are now set for another highly-anticipated matchup in 2026-27.
According to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, the two powerhouse programs are finalizing an agreement to play the day before Thanksgiving at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.
There is currently no timetable for when this matchup will be officially announced.
With the result from the 2026 NCAA Tournament, UConn tied the all-time series against Duke at 5-5. The first matchup between these historic programs took place in 1976, resulting in a 64-62 win for the Blue Devils.
