Fever Coach Stephanie White Addresses Roster Development Before WNBA Season
Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White likes what she sees in training camp. It has been an eventful offseason for a team that finished 24-20 last year and made the playoffs.
The biggest storyline entering 2026 is superstar Caitlin Clark's return to full health. Clark suited up for just 13 games last season after multiple injuries derailed her second year.
The Fever made sure their best player has ample support. Indiana re-signed Lexie Hull, Sophie Cunningham and Kelsey Mitchell. The franchise extended All-Star Aliyah Boston to a four-year, $6.3 million deal. Indiana also added veteran forward Monique Billings to the mix.
White was pleased to welcome a familiar face back to Fever training camp for the first time this week.
Damiris Dantas has settled her visa issues and is back on American soil. The delay forced the Brazilian center to miss the early part of training camp, which opened April 19. Dantas wasted no time making up for lost time. She quickly rejoined her teammates on the practice floor.
White addressed Dantas' return to the roster with enthusiasm.
"I'm really excited," the Fever head coach told reporters. "DD had a great offseason. She's been playing great. She looks great.
"I heard that yesterday she shot the lights out. So I'm excited to get her back on the floor. She gives us a different kind of look from the post position. I'm ready to integrate her into this group."
Dantas brings veteran depth to Indiana's frontcourt. The 10-year veteran gives White's second unit size and experience.
Last season, Dantas appeared in 38 regular-season contests for Indiana. She averaged 4.6 points and 2.4 rebounds in 11.6 minutes per game. The Brazilian is hungry for a bounce-back campaign after a concussion kept her sidelined for the entire playoff run.
Her return is a timely boost. The Fever open the 2026 season on May 9 against the Dallas Wings.
