Rockets Get Troubling Kevin Durant Injury Update

The Houston Rockets are heading back to Los Angeles in an attempt to hold off the Lakers in another close-out game on Wednesday night.

The Rockets notched their first victory of the first-round NBA playoff series on Sunday night, posting a dominant 115-96 final score in Houston and avoiding the sweep.

Houston accomplished this Game 4 win without its veteran leader: Kevin Durant.

Durant has missed three of the first four games of the Rockets’ first round series. The 37-year-old NBA superstar missed Game 1 after suffering a bone bruise on his knee during a practice session earlier in the week. He returned for Game 2, but suffered a sprained left ankle during the second half of the loss.

Durant was unavailable for Game 3 and Game 4. And now, his status for Game 5 is in question.

Durant did not participate in the Rockets’ practice session on Tuesday morning.

“This morning, Kevin Durant ran on an AlterG treadmill at the Rockets facility with Head Athletic Trainer Jason Biles monitoring him. He did not participate in practice,” Rockets reporter Vanessa Richardson shared.

Rockets head coach Ime Udoka said Durant is still considered day-to-day with his ankle injury.

The Rockets had six players score in double figures with Durant out in Game 4. Amen Thompson led the way with a team-high 23 points, followed by a playoff career-high 20 points from Tari Eason.

Game 5 will tipoff at 10 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
