Oilers' Tristan Jarry Addresses Controversial OT Goal After Game 4 Loss to Ducks
The Edmonton Oilers handed Tristan Jarry his first start of the series in Game 4, and he responded with 34 saves on 38 shots in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
Edmonton built early momentum with a 2-0 lead and later went up 3-2 in the third period, but could not close it out as Anaheim forced overtime.
The game was decided on a deflected puck in the extra period that slipped through Jarry and was ruled a goal after a lengthy review, setting the stage for strong reactions from the Oilers side during their postgame media availabilities.
Jarry, who had not graced the net at any point before Game 4 of the first-round series, was asked afterward whether he believed the puck fully crossed the line.
"It's hard. We were just looking at it in there, and you really can't tell," Jarry said. "I'm sure you could go either way with it. You could say it's a goal, it's no goal, there's going to be opinions about it. Obviously, on the losing side of it, we didn't think it went in, but it's tough."
The play developed off a scramble in front of Jarry's net, with the Ducks' Ryan Poehling attempting a cross-ice pass and the puck deflecting off a skate before sliding through Jarry's pads.
"Just kinda a battle in the corner, and it just gets thrown to the middle… It's unlucky," Jarry said. "An unlucky bounce goes off of the skate, just kinda bounces between my legs, and it just kept going. It just died behind me."
"You never want to be on that side of it & it's tough to lose that way. Tough to have the indecision of that, but I guess that's the way it goes. I wish it could've went the other way."

The loss leaves the Oilers trailing 3-1 in the series despite leading early in Game 4, and the current runner-ups will face elimination for the next three games, as long as they can keep extending the series.
Edmonton will host Game 5 at Rogers Place on Tuesday, with puck drop set for 10 p.m. ET.
