Connor McDavid Addresses Health Concerns After Oilers' Game 4 Loss

The Edmonton Oilers entered Game 4 against the Anaheim Ducks looking to even their first-round series after dropping Game 3 on the road.

Instead, the back-to-back runner-ups left Honda Center facing elimination following a 4-3 overtime loss ending with a controversial goal.

The Oilers built leads of 2-0 and 3-2 before the Anaheim Ducks responded each time. Ryan Poehling's overtime winner, confirmed after a lengthy review, pushed Anaheim to a 3-1 series advantage.

Oilers captain Connor McDavid finished the game with two assists, both coming on the power play, but his postseason production has not matched his usual standards.

Through four first-round games, McDavid has scored just one goal and four points against the Ducks. For context, he scored two goals and seven total points in three regular-season games against Anaheim this campaign.

After the game, McDavid was asked directly about his health, with speculation growing around whether something is limiting his play.

"I feel-we're all doing the best we can out there. We're all working and trying to get it done," McDavid said.

When pressed further about his condition a moment later, McDavid shifted the focus away from himself.

"It's not really about Connor McDavid here, it's about two teams that are trying to figure each other out," McDavid said when asked if anything is limiting his production. "They're playing well, and we have another level as a group. I still feel there were some good signs tonight."

The Oilers will return home for Game 5 needing a win to keep their season alive and to extend the series.

"We're in a hole, no doubt about it. Gotta find a way to get a win at home," McDavid said.

Edmonton has reached the Stanley Cup Final in each of the last two seasons, but could crash out earlier than expected this year, depending on what happens on Tuesday, starting at 10 p.m. ET.
