Angel Reese Praises Megan Thee Stallion After Klay Thompson Split
The show must go on.
On Saturday afternoon, Megan Thee Stallion publicly alleged that Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson had cheated on her and confirmed to TMZ that she had decided to “end my relationship” with the four-time NBA champion.
By Saturday night, the Grammy-winning rapper was back on Broadway, starring as Zidler in “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City. Meg made her Broadway debut on March 24 and will continue in the historic role until May 17.
A video began circulating on X showing Megan Thee Stallion repeatedly wiping tears from her eyes amid raucous, relentless applause.
Atlanta Dream All-Star Angel Reese saw the video and reposted it alongside the message, “It's the way you show up even while carrying so much-that’s what makes you THAT girl. You always have a little sister riding for you at dawn. I love you, sister.”
Megan Thee Stallion and Reese have been friends since Reese’s rookie WNBA season in 2024.
In July of that year, Hot Girl Meg told Shannon Sharpe that she sometimes shoots hoops at the studio, adding, “I be thinking I’m really Angel Reese when I be back there.” The following month, Reese surprised Megan Thee Stallion on stage at Lollapalooza. They even posed together on the red carpet at the 2025 Met Gala.
More recently, Megan Thee Stallion confirmed the obvious by telling USA Today’s Meghan L. Hall that she’s an Angel Reese stan: “I feel like everybody knows Angel Reese is my girl. That’s my twin.”
Megan Thee Stallion and Thompson confirmed their relationship on Instagram last July and made their first public appearance together at Meg’s inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala on July 16, 2025.
Last October, Meg released “LOVER GIRL” and confirmed it was “my song about Klay.” Megan Thee Stallion and Thompson each shared videos featuring their relationship, including joint workout videos and Megan cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the entire Thompson family. Thompson went so far as to name his boat the “SS Stallion.”
While Megan Thee Stallion finishes her Broadway run, Thompson is “not sure” whether he’ll return to play for the Mavericks next season.
