Jaguars GM Named Loser After Surprising NFL Draft Picks
The Jacksonville Jaguars are riding high after a successful season in Liam Coen's first year as the head coach.
Trevor Lawrence is still there and wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. is also still on the roster despite some trade rumblings.
However, the Jaguars raised plenty of eyebrows with some shocking selections early in the 2026 NFL Draft.
The Jaguars' first pick came in the second round at No. 56 overall, and they selected Texas A&M tight end Nate Boerkircher.
They then selected defensive tackle Albert Regis and safety Jalen Huskey with the remainder of their top-100 picks, but based on some big boards, all of those players were massive reaches.
John Breech of CBS Sports had a losers article, and Jaguars GM James Gladstone was named a loser after these selections.
"Based on their picks in the first four rounds, it seems like the Jaguars threw their draft board out the window and started throwing darts to decide who they were going to draft next. Based on the consensus draft board, the Jags reached on four of their first five picks," Breech wrote.
Here's the breakdown Breech provided based on where these players ranked on other boards before the draft.
- Round 2, Pick 56: TE Nate Boerkircher (CBS -- 86, ESPN -- 159)
- Round 3, Pick 81: DT Albert Regis (CBS -- 140, ESPN -- 134)
- Round 3, Pick 100: S Jalen Huskey (CBS -- 230, ESPN -- 228)
- Round 4, Pick 119: DE Wesley Williams (CBS -- 356, ESPN -- 240)
Yeah, that's definitely a risk.
What Are the Jaguars Doing?
To be blunt, nobody knows.
Now, the one move that might have saved the Jaguars from an F grade from this class is Oregon guard Emmanuel Pregnon, who somehow dropped to them in Round 4.
But, the Jaguars had one of the worst drafts, at least on paper.

The Jaguars more than likely could've moved back in Round 2 and Round 3 and still selected those players, so it was a massive surprise to see them go this early.
If this doesn't work out, Gladstone will have a lot of questions to answer.
