Timberwolves Announce Anthony Edwards News After Leaving Nuggets Game

Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards has been dealing with a right knee injury throughout the first round of the NBA playoffs.

Still, Edwards has done everything he can to keep Minnesota's title hopes alive, and entering Saturday's game against the Denver Nuggets, his team held a 2-1 series advantage.

Edwards got off to a rough start from the field in Game 4, knocking down just one of his first eight shot attempts through 18 minutes of action.

Unfortunately, with minutes remaining before halftime, Edwards suffered another injury scare while contesting a layup. He landed awkwardly on his left leg and immediately grabbed at his left knee in discomfort.

The Timberwolves called a timeout and took Edwards out of the game. He headed back to the locker room with trainers, unable to put pressure on his left leg. Edwards did not return for the remainder of the first half.

With concern continuing to mount, the Timberwolves announced an update on his status. "Anthony Edwards (Left Knee Injury) is OUT for the remainder of the game," the team wrote on X.

Although Edwards is clearly not at full strength, Minnesota's ceiling in the postseason relies heavily on him being on the court. Throughout 61 games this year, the 24-year-old shooting guard posted a career-high 28.8 points, 3.7 assists and 5.0 rebounds while shooting 48.9% from the field and 39.9% from beyond the arc.

Edwards has been one of the best players in the league over the past six seasons. He earned his fourth straight All-Star selection earlier this year and has also collected two All-NBA honors since being selected first overall in the 2020 NBA Draft.

He has led the Timberwolves to two straight Western Conference Finals and hoped to do the same this year. But now, that path becomes far more uncertain as Minnesota waits to learn the severity of his latest injury.
