Jordyn Tyson's Mom Grabs Attention During 2026 NFL Draft
The New Orleans Saints added serious firepower to their offense in the opening round of the NFL Draft, selecting Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson with the No. 8 overall pick.
Tyson had a breakout season for the Sun Devils in 2024, hauling in 75 passes for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns. Although injuries prevented him from having similar production in 2025, the Saints weren't scared to use a top-10 pick on him.
The plan is for Tyson to form an elite receiver duo in New Orleans with Chris Olave. If they play up to their potential, Saints quarterback Tyler Shough could take that next step in his development.
"I knew they had a quarterback, that was a big thing, and then also a receiver [Olave] on the other side, a great receiver on the other side," Tyson told reporters. "I can learn from him to see how he handles his business."
While the spotlight will be on Tyson throughout his rookie season, it was his mother who went viral during the NFL Draft.
Tyson's mother, Sandra Brown, joined the Air Force early on in life. Now, she'll get to watch her son play football at the highest level.
"My mom is one of my best friends," Tyson said. "This family would not be going if it weren't for her. She takes care of all the little small details and all the work that we need done. We wouldn't be able to do it without her."
Jordyn Tyson's mother is doing what she can to protect him.
Prior to the NFL Draft on Thursday night, Brown talked about making sure she protects Tyson from all the outside factors he may face in the pros.
"These young adults have so much on their shoulders, competing at such a high level," she said, via SunDevils.com. "Where is their safe space? We focus on what they need to keep their engines running and keep that safe space peaceful. As parents, we try to make their lives easier so they can do what they need to do."
Brown continued, "He has a great heart, which we have to be careful with, because he wants to give, give, give."
Only time will tell if Tyson can reach his full potential in the Big Easy.
