Baker Mayfield, Wife Emily Mayfield Announce Major Personal News
Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off an up-and-down season in 2025. Tampa Bay entered its Week 9 bye at 6-2, coming off a road victory over the New Orleans Saints the prior week.
Mayfield was in early MVP discussions, and the Buccaneers seemed primed for their sixth straight playoff appearance, which began with Tom Brady's Super Bowl win in 2020. Tampa Bay fell apart after the bye week, winning only two of its remaining nine games. Mayfield still played well, finishing in the top 10 in passing yards (3,693) and seventh in touchdowns (26).
Mayfield has had a turbulent career, and he has credited his wife, Emily Mayfield, for his turnaround. Formerly known as Emily Wilkinson, she is a native of Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, graduating in 2013 with a degree in business administration. She is a lifestyle influencer and co-founder of the Baker & Emily Mayfield Foundation. The two met in 2017 and hit it off immediately, marrying in 2019.
On Wednesday, Mayfield's wife took to social media to make a major announcement. On Emily Mayfield's Instagram page, she posted to her story, revealing the birth of a baby boy. Daughter Kova Jade was born in April 2024, and son Maverick Thorne Mayfield was born on April 16. In the post, she reveals her son's birth date and weight, his full name, and how she is taking it all in.
"Baby Mav is here ," Mayfield wrote. "Maverick Thorne Mayfield. April 16, 2026 - 9 pounds. Soaking up these sweet moments as a family of four + @bakermayfield."

The first round of the 2026 NFL Draft begins April 23, with Tampa Bay holding the No. 15 overall pick.
