Mike Vrabel's Admission About His Family Is Sparking More Questions
Mike Vrabel admitted on Tuesday that he's had "difficult" conversations with his family in the wake of the Dianna Russini scandal.
The New England Patriots head coach and the NFL insider were spotted at a resort in Arizona earlier this offseason. Vrabel and Russini were seen holding hands, hugging and rocking swimsuits in the pool and in the hot tub. Both Vrabel and Russini initially denied the speculation surrounding the photos. However, Russini has since resigned.
On Tuesday, Vrabel admitted that he's had tough conversations with his family.
"I've had some difficult conversations with people that I care about, with my family, the organization, the coaches, the players. Those have been positive and productive. You know, we believe in order to be successful on and off the field, you have to make good decisions. That includes me, that starts with me. We never want our actions to negatively affect the team. You never want to be the cause of a distraction. And when I - those are comments and questions that I've answered for the team, with the team, we'll keep those private and to ourselves," he admitted.
"I care deeply about this football team, and I'm excited to coach them. I also know that I'm gonna attack each day with humility and focus. And what I can promise you is that my family, this organization, the team, the staff, the coaches, everybody, our fans most importantly, will get the best version of me going forward. That's what I know, and I'm excited to do that. But I wanted to go and just address this, and thank you for your patience in dealing with the private and personal matter."
Initially, Vrabel called the reaction to his photos with Russini "laughable."
"These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. This doesn't deserve any further response," he told The Post.
Why were the conversations difficult, then?
If the "innocent" interaction with Russini was blown out of proportion by the media, why did he have to have "difficult" questions with his family.
It's a fair question.
"Why would Mike Vrabel need to have 'difficult conversations' about something he said was 'a completely innocent interaction,'" one NFL fan wondered.
Vrabel's statement on Tuesday is just leading to more questions.
