NFL Draft Class With 9 Hall of Famers Ranked the Greatest of All Time
The 2026 NFL Draft is slated to start on Thursday, and fans are excited to find out which rookies in the 2026 class will help their team with their Super Bowl chase. This year's class may not have many elite prospects at the top, but many consider it as one of the deeper classes in terms of talent teams can acquire in later rounds.
Fernando Mendoza will look to become the standard-bearer of a class full of talented players, though it remains to be seen if they can match up to previous rookie classes that featured some of the sport's most legendaty players.
Bleacher Report's Andy Bailey put together a list of the most impressive NFL Draft classes of all time. He included the 1996 and 1988 classes for the quality of talent they brought to the league.
Above these two impressive rookie classes stands the 1983 class, best known for producing nine players with statues in Canton. Bailey credits how this crop of players impacted the league by the time they hung up their cleats for good.
Leading the elite class is former Miami Dolphins QB Dan Marino. While he didn't have a Super Bowl win to his name, his incredible performance under the pocket earned the love of Dolphins fans and the rest of the league.
Marino isn't not only one Bailey mentioned in the piece. He raved about the elite QB class the 1983 Draft offered.
"At the time Dan Marino retired in 1999, he, John Elway and Jim Kelly were first, second and 10th in NFL history in career passing yards, respectively," he wrote. "Elway had recently won two Super Bowls. Kelly played in four. On the strength of that quarterback group alone, this class would've had a strong argument to be on these rankings."
Bailey also talked about the depth of stars found in other positions. He also named seven-time All-Pro offensive lineman Bruce Matthews, two-time Super Bowl winner Darrell Green, five-time All-Pro running back Eric Dickerson and four-time All-Pro defensive end Richard Dent as standout performers in this class. Other noteworthy members of the 1983 class include Greg Townsend, Jim Jeffcoat, Henry Ellard and Mark Clayton.
The 2026 NFL Draft will be held in Pittsburgh, PA, on April 23-25, 2026.
