TDN's top 10 high school softball players of the week

The week back from spring break for many schools came with rain delays and cancellations of softball games, but that didn't stop some local high school players from balling out.

Take a look below at The Daily News' top 10 softball athletes of the week in order of school classification.

Kylie Killett - Kelso

Killett had a great week in the circle for Kelso, leading the Lassies to back-to-back victories against Mountain View on Thursday and Battle Ground on Friday. She didn't give up any hits or earned runs while striking out 10 batters in four innings during a 17-0 shutout win over the Thunder.

On Friday against the Tigers, the senior generated another seven strikeouts in six innings of work to lead Kelso to a 12-2 win.

Makenzie Henthorn - Mark Morris

This surely won't be the last time the Mark Morris ace makes this list. She led the Monarchs to two shutout wins over Washougal on Thursday and R.A. Long on Friday. Against the Panthers, Henthorn delivered seven strikeouts and didn't give up any hits in just three innings of work in the circle.

The senior then stepped it up in the Civil War versus the Jills, smashing two home runs while batting in six runs on top of throwing a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts in five innings of pitching duty.

Paisley Fraidenburg - Mark Morris

Fraidenburg started strong on Thursday, notching three hits, including a home run and a triple, and seven RBIs. The sophomore continued her strong play against the Jills, recording four hits and two RBIs with a triple and two doubles.

Megan Fugleberg - Mark Morris

Fugleberg had three hits and three RBIs with a triple against R.A. Long. She added a hit and an RBI versus Washougal.

Jolie Oathes - Woodland

Oathes led the Beavers to wins over R.A. Long and Hockinson. She hit a ball out of the park for one of her three hits to go along with four RBIs on Thursday against the Jills. The senior added two hits and three RBIs with a triple against the Hawks on Friday.

Lennox Casi - Toutle Lake

Casi is the first of three Ducks to make the list. She was instrumental in their success this week, with wins over King's Way Christian and Naselle.

The eighth grader tallied four hits and five RBIs with a home run on Monday against the Knights. She added two hits in a loss to Rainier (WA) on Thursday, and had an RBI double on top of two strikeouts in the circle in just one inning of relief work in Friday's win over the Comets.

Jordyn Casi - Toutle Lake

The second Casi to make the list, Jordyn Casi had three hits, with a double and a triple, and two RBIs on Monday and followed that up with three hits, including a home run and a triple, and two RBIs on Thursday. On Friday, the junior added a hit and an RBI.

Karly Opsahl - Toutle Lake

Opsahl started out the week with a bang, much like Lennox Casi, connecting for a home run against the Knights for one of her three hits to go along with three RBIs. The junior added two hits, one being a triple, in Thursday's loss and then added three more hits, including a double, and three RBIs in Friday's win over the Comets.

Olivia George - Clatskanie

George had a great week for the Tigers, most notably recording three hits and five RBIs with a home run and a double in a 7-3 win over Nestucca on Friday, the first game of the doubleheader.

She also struck out five batters in seven innings of work in the circle. In the rematch, a 10-4 win against the Bobcats, the junior added two hits and one RBI while striking out six more batters. She also had two hits in a 15-11 loss to Nestucca on Wednesday.

Joey Sizemore - Clatskanie

Sizemore hit a grand slam and struck out eight batters for Clatskanie on Wednesday. The senior had a triple in the first game on Friday and had three hits, including two doubles, in the rematch.
