Iyo Sky Was WrestleMania 42's Biggest Loser - And WWE Must Do Better

Iyo Sky is one of the best professional wrestlers on the planet.

Man, woman, alien, fish, it doesn’t matter. If Martians came down to Earth tomorrow, they wouldn’t have someone better at the craft of pro wrestling than Iyo Sky.

At the last two WrestleManias, Sky has been part of two of the best matches of the entire weekend. At the 40th edition in Philadelphia, she had a classic against Bayley. Last year in Las Vegas, she somehow topped the Philly match in the triple threat between herself, Bianca Belair, and Rhea Ripley.

WrestleMania 42, though, back in Sin City?

Nothing. No match.

The only time we saw the Japanese starlet was on Sunday night, when she came out to help Rhea Ripley in her world title match against Jade Cargill, relegated to the role of sidekick.

If Sky were only limited to having great matches and wasn’t over with the crowd, I could see the decision to leave her off the WrestleMania 42 card.

But Sky, with her infectious energy and bright charisma, is over with the fans. From kids to adults, they cheer loudly when she enters and know her taunts by heart. She’s not only a workhorse, but a fully-fledged superstar who has gotten over with her work rate and personality.

And at WrestleMania 42, the biggest show of the year, she was there to jump into Ripley’s arms while fireworks blew off in the background.

On Sunday, a night where WWE delivered more successes than failures, possibly their worst was with Sky, along with Carmelo Hayes, who was left out of the United States championship match.

WrestleMania is the two nights of the year, like the Super Bowl, where your best players need to be out on the field and giving it their all.

And the WWE failed not only Sky but also the fans by not having one of its best out there over the course of two nights in Las Vegas.
