Sports Quote of the Day: Bob Feller's Crucial Reminder

Former Cleveland Indians (now Cleveland Guardians) pitcher Bob Feller is one of the greatest players in the history of the franchise. Feller was a World Series champion and eight-time All-Star. He also led the league in strikeouts seven times. Feller was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1962. While his talent was undeniable, Feller's mindset and approach to the game also played a crucial role in his success.

Feller could have had even better numbers and more accomplishments on the baseball field, but he missed 1942-1944 due to military service. He ultimately pitched in MLB from 1936-1956 aside from the aforementioned seasons he missed because of military service.

While he loved the game of baseball, the former Cleveland star pitcher understood that it was just in fact a game. Still, he realized life lessons could be taken from baseball.

Feller retired in 1956 as one of the best pitchers in the history of the sport. He recorded a career 3.25 ERA to go along with 2,581 strikeouts. Everything he accomplished is unquestionably incredible considering the fact that he missed multiple years of his prime.

Feller had a number of memorable quotes, but one specific thing he said stands out. His words are something we can learn from even in the year 2026.

Every day is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday's success or put its failures behind and start over again. That's the way life is, with a new game and every day, and that's the way baseball is.
