Prep Highlights: Leilani Mays of Union wins three events, selected as top female athlete at John Ingram Twilight track and field meet
Leilani Mays of Union won three events, was selected the girls athlete of the meet and led the Titan girls to the team title Friday at the John Ingram Twilight track and field meet at Columbia River.
Mays set personal bests in winning the 100-meter hurdles in 14.31 seconds and the 200 meters in 25.11. Her winning time in the 100 meters (12.19) was a season best.
Ella Koch of Union was a dual winner, taking the 800 (2:17.79) and 1,600 (5:08.85). Violet Heidt of Seton Catholic was a dual winners, winning the long jump (17 feet, 1.25 inches) and triple jump (35-11).
Other winners in the girls meet included Olivia Banfield of Columbia River (400), Sara Thompson of Union (3,200), Elsie Herold (300 hurdles) and Kristen Harvey (high jump) of Mark Morris, Jordyn Roberge of Kelso (shot put), Tiffany Sheldon of Seton Catholic (discus), Chiara Cooper of Columbia River (javelin) and Macy Swanson of Kelso (pole vault).
Union outdistanced Columbia River 125-87 to take the team title.
The boys meet did not have a multi-event winner. But Ben Wheeler (100), Aaron Barron Pintor (3,200), Henry Dechenne (discus) and Brandon Fich (high jump) won events for Columbia River, allowing the Rapids to beat out Union for the team title.
River also got a pair of runner-up finishes (200, 400) from Solomon Menendez, who was the male athlete of the meet.
Other winners included Deven Vigue of Prairie (200), Henry Reiter (400), Lucas Fosterman (300 hurdles) and Cameron Roy (javelin) of Union, Sylas Allen of Hudson's Bay (800), Lord King Nana-Badu-Weah of Battle Ground (1,600), Jackson Short of Seton Catholic (110 hurdles), Brendan Brown of Mark Morris (shot put), Jonathan Moloney of Mountain View (pole vault) and Deondrae Goodell (long jump) and Casey Crosby (triple jump) of Washougal.

Riley Young, R.A. Long baseball, pitched five shutout innings and went 2 for 3 with a triple as the Lumberjacks beat Mark Morris 2-0 in the first game of a 2A GSHL doubleheader.
Riley O'Farrell, Mark Morris baseball, pitched five innings of one-hit ball and went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI as Mark Morris won the nightcap from R.A. Long 5-1.
Reece Holmes, Ridgefield baseball, allowed no earned runs in seven innings with eight strikeouts and drove in two runs in a 6-1 win over Hudson's Bay.
Zach Sims, Columbia River baseball, went 2 for 4 with a double, triple and two RBI in a 7-1 win over Woodland.
Owen MacDonald, Washougal baseball, allowed one earned run in five innings pitched and drove in two runs in a 13-3 win over Hockinson.
Ava Pratoussy, Columbia River softball, went 5 for 5 with a home run and seven RBI in a 32-1 win over Washougal.
Jolie Oathes, Woodland softball, went 2 for 3 with a triple, two stolen bases and three RBI in a 12-6 win over Hockinson.
Makenzie Henthorn, Mark Morris softball, pitched five shutout innings and went 2 for 4 with home run and six RBI in a 24-0 win over R.A. Long.
Tava Whitlow, Ridgefield softball, went 3 for 3 with two triples and six RBI in a 25-0 win over Hudson's Bay.
Kailanah Hagdahl, Kelso softball, went 3 for 5 with a double in a 12-2 win over Battle Ground.
Toren Baker, Skyview boys soccer, scored two goals in a 3-0 win over Battle Ground.
Robert Cruz Chavarria, Evergreen boys soccer, had three goals in a 5-2 win over Prairie.
Ian Johnson, La Center boys soccer, had three goals and two assists in an 8-0 win over Stevenson.
