Bearcats dominate Highclimbers for league victory

The W.F. West girls golf team seemed to have no issues with the weather on Wednesday, as the Bearcats dominated Shelton in a 102-23 victory at Alderbrook.

Anabel Moeckel, Paige Duncan, Joelie Corey combined for six pars and scored 22 points each, while Izzy Teeter added 19 points, including a par, and Ava Hamilton chipped in 17 with three pars of her own.

Natalie Cornelio also added three pars, but as the sixth-highest Bearcat scorer, her score was dropped from the team score.

"The girls are continuing to get better," W.F. West coach Marty Marquez said.

Shelton was led by Presley Cantero, who scored nine, and Savanah Oliver, who scored eight. No other Highclimber tallied more than three points.

The Bearcats will be back in action on Monday in Aberdeen for the annual Sibley Scramble.
