Anacortes American Girls Athlete of the Week: Lucy Lemrick

Anacortes track and field athlete Lucy Lemrick took the opportunity Saturday, April 11, to run a steeplechase race.

With few opportunities to run the steeplechase, Lemrick won the 2,000-meter race in 7 minutes, 57.02 seconds.

She finished 23 seconds ahead of the runner-up in the 11-runner field.

It was the seventh steeplechase race Lemrick has run at the high school level.

She ran one as a freshman, two as a sophomore and three as a junior.

This season, Lemrick has competed in six individual track and field events, including the discus and high jump, and two relays.
