What’s it like to golf 100 holes in a day?

Well, you can find out Tuesday if you play in The Sandman 100 Play to Beat Disease event at Horn Rapids Golf Course in Richland.

The catch is, people must enter by Monday, June 20. As of Friday afternoon, there were seven spots still available.

Cost is $150, plus a $3.75 service fee, and the proceeds go to battling disease.

The idea is the brainchild of Jim Sandusky, an Othello High School graduate.

If Sandusky’s name sounds familiar, it might be because he was a standout wide receiver in the Canadian Football League. He was a three-time NCAA football All-American too, and at one time played for the Seattle Seahawks.

Steve White, the founder of the Pacific Clinic Foundation and who is in the process of purchasing the Pacific Clinic — the former Tri-City Court Club — said the fundraiser is being held on the perfect day.

“(June 21st) is the longest day of the year,” said White.

The proceeds of the event will go to the fight against disease.

TheSandman100.org website states that “The Pacific Clinic Foundation helps orphan elders, seniors in need, people suffering from degenerative diseases and other medical conditions, (to help them) receive the treatment and care they need to help them beat disease.”

White said that 65 of the available 72 spots for the event have already been reserved, but this will be the first of a number of fundraising golf events the organization will host.

To enter, go to TheSandman100.org website.
