Letter: Accidentally locking children in cars is a serious issue
Accidentally locking children in cars is a serious issue
Recently, the Tri-City Herald had an article about a child accidentally locked in a car. Fortunately, the child was rescued. This kind of problem arises because children have to be put in the back seat, and the doors can be very easily accidentally locked.
One solution to this problem would be for drivers of cars, especially parents of small children, to have an extra key made, and have the key put on a cord or lanyard to hang around the neck of the driver. If drivers kept this near their car keys and put it around their necks when leaving for a trip, the key would be readily available in an emergency. I hope this idea helps.
A child being accidentally locked in a car is a serious issue. Prevention deserves serious consideration.
