Letter: 75 percent of Trump’s statements are mostly false or lies
I want to draw awareness to the truthfulness of Donald Trump’s statements, given articles about Hillary Clinton. Readers should check politifact.com, which lists many politicians, the truth and reasons for the truth (or lack thereof) of their statements. One can access a list of statements that the website has checked for its rating.
The website mentions, “Trump's statements were awarded PolitiFact’s 2015 Lie of the Year.” Recently, it shows 2 percent “true,” 8 percent “mostly true” and 15 percent “half true” for Trump. When 75 percent of a candidate’s statements are “mostly false” or lies, I have difficulty believing that he would do what he has said if elected.
His business dealings reveal the same lack of truthfulness — in the New York Times, “Based on ... court records ..., it is hard to find a project he touched that did not produce allegations of broken promises, blatant lies or outright fraud.”
I’m not defending Hillary’s email issues, but almost 3/4 of her statements are “true,” “mostly true” or “half true.”
A recent letter to the editor asked about the “anti-Trump rhetoric.” I can’t see how our country can become “great again” with Trump.
