Letter: Statements during GOP convention were way over the line
Statements during GOP convention were way over the lineIt’s hard to believe that the party of hate led by Donald Trump has out done themselves in callousness, thoughtlessness and total disregard for common decency while holding their convention.
Their statements during their convention were way over the line. It shows they will stoop to new lows to lambast their opposition. They used half-truths, innuendos and total outright lies to state their positions.
They attacked everything good about America. They claimed America is not great or safe. It appears they are trying to make it unsafe and undermine its greatness. They busily attacked people who work for a living, saying in effect this is a country for their wealthy class. They undermined women’s rights on every front, making statements that attack all women. They made statements about many different minority groups that clearly showed they have total contempt for them.
Why are people backing this callous, thoughtless movement that lacks common decency? America has fought for generations to prevent just this kind of injustice from taking hold in this country. We as a people must stand up to this party of hate, and state clearly this is not what we want or need for our leadership.
