Letter: Keeping and bearing arms is a fundamental right

The right to keep and bear arms is one of those fundamental rights that the Revolution was fought to protect. This right symbolizes the fact and enables the ability for people like you and like me to protect and defend our God-given rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The right to be free.

Activists, politicians or anyone seeking to limit the type of guns available to the public, or persuade Congress to pass laws that would declare all ownership of any firearms illegal, are in the process of stripping away our only method of keeping ourselves free from enslavement and despotism! They may have the best of intentions, or it may be the most sinister of plots.

Any simple, honest study of history will prove this a fundamental truth.

“They, who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty nor security.” — Benjamin Franklin
