Letter: Mental health system in Tri-Cities is screwed up
As I sit here watching my wife descend further into the pit of madness, it occurs to me that maybe, just maybe, if the Benton and Franklin County commissioners hadn’t argued like schoolboys defending their turf from each other, there might be a light at the end of the tunnel.
But there is no light, only more darkness. The mental health system in the Tri-Cities is so screwed up I can’t even get her help. At this point, with their go-to being using the Benton County jail as an overflow for Carondelet, who would want their loved one to go to jail, where they will be warehoused until a bed opens up and treatment can be arranged.
Sadly, I realize the only way to get any mental health treatment for my wife is to move away from here. A place I was born, raised, and even raised my own kids. Way to bork things up Benton and Franklin counties. How can you ever expect your constituency to get along if you can't?
