Letter: Vote yes for Fire District 4 tax levy

Vote yes on Fire District 4, Proposition 16-6: The last five years I have had firsthand interactions with the professional paramedics of Station 4 in West Richland.

These men and women had to respond to my Mom’s house on numerous occasions to assist her for medical issues. When they arrived at the house, they would immediately calm Mom, calling her by her first name, and interacting with her, providing a calming atmosphere to make her comfortable.

Mom and my daughter, her full-time caregiver, would make it a point to take some kind of treat at times to show appreciation. Short of responding to a call, the paramedics would make time to stop and pose with her for pics.

Sadly, Mom passed last March, three months short of her 93rd birthday. When we told the station members, they were openly saddened. Without their immediate responses, I have no doubt she would have suffered more and passed sooner.

Stop by Station 4 on Bombing Range, introduce yourself, ask for a tour and thank these fine professionals, then vote yes for their continued services to our community.
