Letter: Vote ‘yes’ to support Link proposition

I would encourage my fellow Kennewick voters to support The Link proposition, which will be on the Aug. 2 ballot. This proposition from the Kennewick Public Facilities District will enhance existing community assets at the Convention Center and Toyota Center, while providing better cultural experiences to replace the Windermere Theater.

As these enhancements create better facilities and increased patronage, they also will spur the interest in the development of additional amenities around the campus that will benefit all of us, including unique shops and restaurants. Additional patronage at these facilities will also help to retain the many existing businesses that have made this area a regional shopping hub that we all enjoy.

A vote of “yes” would be a clear signal that Kennewick residents understand the importance of continued development of this area as the commercial and entertainment center of the Tri-Cities. For the past 50 years, developments such as Columbia Center, The Coliseum (now Toyota Center), and the Convention Center have been critical elements towards the development of this center in Kennewick.

We need to continue along this path through these enhancements and new vision. Vote “yes” for Kennewick’s future.

Tom Moak, Kennewick
