Letter: Vote for Link project for area to become competitive and grow
I am so excited about the possibility of a state-of-the-art theater coming to our community. I enjoy attending Broadway plays, but in order to see a quality show I’ve had to go to Seattle or Spokane.
The Toyota Center was never meant to be a venue for theater — it’s a hockey arena. The acoustics are bad, the seats are uncomfortable and it’s cold (you’re sitting on ice)! Imagine having first-class plays, concerts and musicals right here.
The tax burden won’t be borne only by the residents of Kennewick. We have people from all over the Tri-Cities, northeastern Oregon, Yakima, and the Valley shopping and spending money in Kennewick.
The Three Rivers Convention Center is in dire need of expansion, as more and more conventions are going to Seattle, Spokane and Yakima due to the lack of space. We are losing a considerable amount of money to other convention centers. Local hotel, restaurants and shopping are losing out on missed revenue.
It's time for us to become competitive and grow!
