Letter: Food safety inspector pictured in newspaper should be cited
I am writing in regards to the picture above the fold on Page One of the Sunday, July 3, newspaper. It shows someone from the Benton Franklin Health District food safety program checking the temperature of some nachos.
However, if she had walked into that kitchen and seen someone disregarding protocol the way she is depicted, I can’t help but think the facility would have been written up. The picture shows a food preparation place, with food open to the environs, and she’s there without a hair net, carrying a purse that has who knows what in it that could contaminate the food.
Someone should cite her. Does it make sense to think that the rules one is enforcing don’t apply to the person doing the enforcing?
