Letter: Vote for Doug McKinley to get government working for the people again

Filibusters, government shutdowns. Sixty-two pointless votes repealing your affordable health care. House committees designed to destroy opposing political figures and waste your taxpayer money. Refusal to fill judgeships and approve standard career military appointments. Vows to prevent any initiatives from the executive branch of government. Promotion of stalemate by imposition of onerous voting regulations that disproportionately bar “the other.” Refusal to provide emergency assistance to one part of the country, but begging for it when needed in your state.

This has been the state of the government for the past eight years. It is the result of the political strategy adopted by Republican congressional leaders. They cannot win the White House, so they will build a wall around it.

Dan Newhouse has been an active supporter of this scheme; Clint Didier would be an eager participant.

Doug McKinley would get the government working for the people again. You remember — “We, the People.” Not the political party. Not the corporate giants who think first of profit. You, the veteran. You, the person who could help rebuild a bridge or a road. Or a lead-leaking water system. You, the student. You, the citizen.

Vote for Doug McKinley in the upcoming primary.

Richard Reuther, Pasco
