Letter: Supreme Court upholds constitution in immigration ruling

The headline on the June 24 newspaper, “Obama immigration plan dealt blow,” should have read “The U.S. Constitution was upheld by the Supreme Court.”

The ruling was not about immigration. It was about checks and balances by separation of powers for the government. The ruling should have been 8-0. The president cannot legislate laws, he can only enforce existing law. There is no such law “executive amnesty,” as all the courts have confirmed.

It was a victory for the American people, not a loss for Obama.
