Letter: Please support initiative to support grandparents’ family rights

Washington is the only state in the union, since the year 2000, that doesn’t have any law to protect the relationship between a grandparent and their grandchild.

Initiative 877 will be ready for signing in a few short weeks. It requires 240,000 signatures. We need volunteers to collect signatures, as well as to take on the responsibility of creating a group that will meet regularly to find ways of continuing to succeed in getting signatures.

Death, divorce, breakups, drug addiction, mental illness and disagreement are all reasons at the heart of this devastating family issue.

Please email grandparent.grandchild. rights@gmail.com or call 509-820-2130 for information on how to sign and collect signatures.

In addition, please write letters to all of our state’s representatives, legislators and senators. They need to be informed of our heartbreaking situations. Be sure to include you and your grandchildren’s story and the strong need for the restoration of this very important family law.

Together we can make a difference.
