Letter: Vote yes for ‘Link’ project to bring world-class entertainers to Kennewick

Who: You, the Kennewick voter.

What: The Link, consisting of the expansion of the Three Rivers Convention Center, updating the Toyota Center and building a 2,300-seat theater for the Windermere Theater.

When: Coming soon to a ballot near you in August.

Where: The city of Kennewick.

Why: To ensure Kennewick can compete with other metropolitan areas to become the #1 vacation destination in the state, with arts and entertainment that will complement river activities, sports venues, wine tasting, the Reach, hydroplane races, county fair, rodeo, music festivals, Blues and Brews, expos, the Carousel of Dreams and so much more. Generate local construction jobs through the community workforce agreement with the city of Kennewick, and upon completion, year-round operational employment.

How: On your August ballot, you will be asked to approve a sales tax increase of 2 cents on every $10 spent, not only by locals but anyone who shops in our city, which means we all equally support this publicly funded project. Most important, this tax increase has a sunset clause which means it has a specific end date.

Become a pro-active supporter — take pride in our community, vote “yes” to bring world-class entertainers to a world-class city.
