Letter: Gun control means infringement of Second Amendment rights
It is often somewhat entertaining to read letters to the paper. I notice that some are from frequent contributors. Always wondered why these people are so compelled to write.
But now I understand a little bit better. So here goes! I fail to understand how anyone who is a citizen of these United States cannot understand the Second Amendment. It is not about deer hunting, and it is not about AR-15s. Sens. Nancy Pelosi and Diane Feinstein (and probably both of our Washington senators) simply fail to recognize that they cannot infringe on our Second Amendment rights. Gun control means infringement to me.
The Congress should do the really right thing and establish a list of individuals who, because of their mental stability or criminal history, cannot be trusted with a gun. Then simply enforce that list. Not lists, one list. Simple. Problem solved. Get the psychiatrists and the FBI active in vetting the list and the Justice Department enforcing. Give them something simple to do, instead of pandering to a totally misguided president bent on national destruction.
