Letter: What has happened to right to petition the government?

I must respond to the letter by Jennifer Tamowski in the June 19 issue. She is upset at Walmart for letting petitioners on its property with an issue (opposing the “bathroom law”) she disagrees with.

If it was something she wanted to petition, she would probably demand that Walmart let her on their property. But because she disagrees with the issue, she’s all upset. What has happened to the constitutional guarantee of freedom of expression, and the right to petition the government?

And this restroom issue arose long before the Orlando shooting. I do not want a biological man in a public restroom with my wife. What about decency and privacy?

Her last statement is way off base. She blames homophobes and transphobes as the cause of the Orlando shooting. That is not the case. The primary cause is radical Islamic terrorism! The sooner we come to recognize that, the sooner we will be able to defeat it. “Political correctness” is killing people, and it’s time we came to grips with reality.

She calls people against the “bathroom bill” bigots. She needs to take a look at her own bigotry.
