Letter: Need another access route for ConAgra expansion in Richland

Since ConAgra is planning to extend its Richland plant, we hope there are also plans by the city of Richland and/or the state of Washington to open another access to the plant other than the sole one off SR 240.

We live in the Horn Rapids golf course neighborhood, and are witness to the huge increase in truck traffic since the freezer plant opened. We already dealt with potato trucks going in and out of ConAgra, and concrete and rock product trucks going in and out of the plants on Robertson Road.

Now there is the added traffic of freezer trucks going 24/7 in and out of the potato plant and going in and out of every possible access to/from SR 240 to the freezer plant. The length and number of trains crossing SR 240 has also increased.

Perhaps it would be possible to create an access from the south side of ConAgra through the airport to access southbound SR 240. This would at least take the potato and freezer trucks that are heading south and east away from the one access on westbound SR 40.
