Letter: Waterless in Kennewick

As most of you know, KID is an acronym for Kennewick Irrigation District. While they do provide irrigation services when they “can,” I don’t think it accurately reflects how us customers truly feel.

First off, for those who were flooded out, we are so sorry for your loss and damage to property and belongings. Furthermore, the absolute inconvenience and disruption to your lives is unfathomable and we wish you the best.

The start to our much-anticipated irrigation season this year lasted two days, and then we went without service for the next three weeks. I came home today, and lo and behold, no irrigation again.

My wife and I have purchased multiple properties around the Northwest. Never have we paid as much to water our yard as we do here, nor do I recall a time we couldn’t water when we wanted to. Therefore KID should change to GYMS, which is an acronym for “Gimme Your Money Suckers” — this is much more fitting.

Oh, by the way, don’t ask for a refund for service you didn’t get, unless you like being laughed at.
