Letter: Smokers prevent me from watching sunset from my yard
I live in Pasco, in a lovely home. On days when the weather is nice, I like to have my windows open for the fresh air to come in. I like spending time in my yard working.
But alas, I have been deprived of these pleasures due to my neighbors. I have asthma and cannot be around smokers. My neighbors delight in smoking cigarettes and weed while in the yard right next to my home. I realize that they have the right to smoke. I also have the right to breathe and not have an asthma attack when outside or when I have my windows open.
Some may say, “just keep your windows closed.” Does someone really have the right to pollute the air over my right to have fresh air in my home or be in my yard? Yes, my neighbors are very aware of my asthma. We have had conversations concerning the subject.
But here I sit, on a beautiful evening with my home shut tight and not able to enjoy the sunset from my yard.
