Letter: International monied interests run the government

The 1939 movie, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, is a classic and should be seen by every American.

A young bumpkin, played by Jimmy Stewart, is recruited with the way greased for his rise to the U.S. Senate by a senior senator named Paine. Unbeknownst to Smith, he is being set up as a dupe for Paine to ram through a land grab by monied interests above politics. Once alerted to the scam, Smith tries to expose the gangsters and faces their wrath.

The 1939 Sen. Jeffrey Smith stood on principle against graft and deceit. He knew to whom he owed his eternal loyalty.

Fast forward past World War II, Korea, Vietnam and innumerable contrived wars since, to the orange revolutions (wars) orchestrated by international monied interests of today.

Is it true? “You can buy anything is this world for money?” Does our desire for fame, popularity and power justify our taking advantage of others? Do we further debase relationships that would threaten our eternal families ? Lie a little, steal a lot! Where do we draw the line? Is our integrity worth so little?
