Letter: University shows the way for green, sustainable living
The University of Colorado at Boulder is a green university teaching and practicing sustainable living. Students ride bikes and take transit and use permanent water bottles instead of plastic. Water is heated with solar and stored in huge holding tanks in the basements of the dorms. The water is recycled three times. A football game attended by 5,000 people generates no garbage because it is all sorted by the students into recycle or compost.
Would it not be great when the schools teach green to the students, who can come up with great ways to conserve energy? Would it not be nice to know that restaurants do recycling of paper and compost leftover food? Would it not be great to have whole neighborhoods going green, like the one that is to take the place of Vista Field?
