Letter: ‘Trumpery’ has to do with deceit and worthless nonsense

Just out of curiosity, I looked in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary to find the word “Trump.” It says 1) To get the better of, and 2) to pay a trump on a card when another suit is led. The word “trumpery” has to do with deceit, such as worthless nonsense and trivial or useless articles.

This all seems synonymous to a man running for president of the United States! I do not believe anything he says, nor do I believe he means well for this country. It’s alarming to a lot of people that so many people think he could “get things done” because he says it like it is.

I remember hearing about this man and his misadventures a number of years ago, when he was a rich playboy. It concerns those of us who care about the best interests of our children and their descendents after we are gone.

I’ve heard the same from friends out of state, how worried they are over this political mess, Democrats and Republicans alike. I hope with all my heart the election comes out in our favor.
