Letter: Tri-Cities already has a symphony orchestra

I was surprised to read about a survey of most-wanted businesses (TCH, April 17) in which readers expressed the desire for a symphony orchestra.

The Mid-Columbia Symphony celebrates its 71st season in the Tri-Cities culminating at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, with a faith-themed concert. The concert features the Mid-Columbia Mastersingers in performances of Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms and Poulenc’s Gloria.

The symphony currently performs in Richland High School but is looking forward to be a resident company in the performing arts center envisioned by the Arts Center Task Force in the Port of Kennewick’s Vista Field development project.

Dr. Boyce Burdick, Board President, Mid-Columbia Symphony Society, Richland
